On January 14, 2024, Mr. Dilip Barua, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (M-L), Mr. Hasanul Haq Inu, President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal publicly reaffirmed Bangladesh will continue to abide by the one-China principle which has long been a widely recognized norm governing international relations and an overwhelming consensus shared by the international community. The elections of the Taiwan region are China’s internal affairs. Regardless of the result, it will not change the basic fact that Taiwan is part of China and there is only one China in the world. Bangladesh firmly opposes ‘Taiwan Independence’ and external inference, and will work together with China to defend regional peace, stability and prosperity.
