On May 8, 2008 the opening ceremony of the 15th All Asians Inter- Varsity Debate Championship was held in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka. Chief Adviser for Caretaker Government, Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed, eminent members from all walks of life and hundreds of contestants attended the ceremony. Chinese Ambassador H. E. Mr. Zheng Qingdian took part in the ceremony and met the Chinese contestants.

    Ambassador Zheng inquired about the preparatory work of the contestants, encouraged the students to give a full play of their knowledge and skills and take this opportunity to present the excellent image of contemporary Chinese college students.

    The debate was hosted by Bangladesh North South University and participated by over 200 contestants and adjudicators of over 10 Asian countries.
