On Jan 17th 2008, Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh held a joint function with Bangladesh Dragon and Lion Dance Association and Bangladesh WUSHU Association in Chittagong, the second largest city in Bangladesh to observe Chinese Spring Festival. Cultural Counsellor of Chinese Embassy Mr. Liu Sanzhen and president of South Asia WUSHU Association Mr. Siddque attended the program.

    In his speech, Counsellor Liu said Lion Dance enjoys a history of over 1900 years. Chinese regard lions as auspicious animals that can help people exorcise evil spirits. He expressed hope that Lion Dance would bring good luck to Chittagong citizens.

    During function, the feature "New Beijing New Olympics" and the Chinese movie Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon were also shown.
