On Jan 10th 2008, the donation ceremony of agro-machines from Chinese Embassy to Bangladesh cyclone-affected districts was held in the office of Workers Party of Bangladesh. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh H. E. Mr. Zheng Qingdian, president of Workers Party of Bangladesh, Mr. Rashed Khan Menon attended the ceremony.

    In his speech, Ambassador Zheng said last year Bangladesh suffered from two consecutive floods and cyclone "Sidr", causing huge loss of lives and property and leaving the country and its people a heavy task of rehabilitation. To help disaster-affected people with the cultivation in the Boro season, Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh would like to donate TK 5 lakh worth power pumps and power tillers through China's old friend, president of Workers Party of Bangladesh, Mr. Menon to contribute to the rehabilitation work in the disaster-affected districts.

    Mr. Menon expressed gratitude to Ambassador Zheng and Chinese Embassy for the timely assistance, which conveys the profound brotherliness of Chinese diplomats to Bangladesh people. The agro-machines will soon be sent to the disaster-affected areas to help people restore the production.
