H. E. Mr. Zheng Qingdian Attends Inaugural Ceremony of the New Satellite Ground Station of SPARRSO

    On 10th September, the inaugural ceremony of the Receiving Ground Station of Fengyun Satellite Data Broadcasting System donated by Chinese government through the secretariat of Asia Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) to Bangladesh was held in the headquarters of Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO). Chinese Ambassador, H. E. Mr. Zheng Qingdian, Secretary of Ministry of Defence, H. E. Mr. Kamrul Hasan attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.

                         

    Ambassador Zheng congratulated on the successful installation and operation of the system. He said, upon its founding, APSCO has been devoting itself to the promotion of multilateral cooperation among all the member countries in the fields such as space science and technology application. As a member of APSCO, China would like to give a full play of its preponderance and capacity to help our friendly countries like Bangladesh in the sectors of meteorological technology, disaster mitigation, space technology exchange and personnel training. We both have the knowledge of the extreme significance of space technology and the sharing of meteorological data and research achievements in disaster prevention. It is our hope that Fengyun Satellite Data Broadcasting System will play its due and active role in Bangladeshi meteorology and disaster forecasting and prevention.

             

    Secretary of Ministry of Defence, Mr. Hasan, on behalf of Bangladeshi government expressed gratitude to Chinese government for the donation, which, he said, embodies the true and sincere friendship between our two countries and two peoples. He believes that the system will greatly increase the performance of Bangladeshi forecasting of natural disasters. Mr. Hasan lauded the outstanding achievements of Chinese space technology, and hoped to see more exchange and cooperation between the two countries under the purview of ASPCO.
