Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh Collecting Fund for Flood-affected Victims
2007-08-14

This past month in Bangladesh saw a vast swathe of land across much of the country engulfed in floodwater, and flood-related diseases such as malaria, cholera and diarrhea broke out in many affected areas. The number of the victims has risen up to 10 million. People are facing difficulties including deficiency of food, medicine and drinking water. Diplomats of Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh are deeply concerned for the flood situation and the living conditions of the victims. On August 14, a spontaneous donation activity was held in Chinese Embassy for the flood victims.

Ambassador Zheng said that natural disasters occurred frequently in Bangladesh and had brought about severe damage to its people. As the Chinese saying goes, "When one place is in trouble, assistance comes from all quarters", Chinese people would like to face the challenge side by side with Bangladesh. We believe that Bangladeshi people will surely conquer the current difficulty and will soon rebuild their homelands.

The donation from the Chinese Embassy has been handed over to the concerned department of Bangladesh.
