On July 23, the Bangladeshi government reiterated that Bangladesh will stick to the one-China principle, and will stand on Chinese side no matter what happens.

    Acting Foreign Secretary H. E. Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain while interviewed by the journalist from Xinhua News Agency in Bangladesh stated that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. Taiwan is not a country, therefore it is not qualified to apply for the membership of the UN. No matter what Taiwan seeks in any international organization, Bangladesh will stand with China and provide its firm support to China. Mr. Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain made the above remarks in response to the Taiwan authorities' attempt of joining the UN "under the name of Taiwan".
