Foreign Ministry Hong Lei's Remarks on Israel Passing a Law Relating to Occupied Arab Territories
2010/12/01

Q: The Israeli Knesset passed a law on November 22 that any withdrawal from East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights need to win the approval of a two thirds majority of the parliament or it would be put to a national referendum. How do you comment?

A: The Israeli law is not in line with the spirit of relevant UN resolutions, nor can it change the fact that East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights are occupied Arab territories. China calls upon Israel to abide by relevant UN resolutions and principles of international law and properly settle territorial disputes with Arab countries through negotiation, with a view to ultimately realizing comprehensive, fair and lasting peace in the Middle East region.
